Conwy Beekeepers’ Programme 2018/2019
Tues 25th September, Beekeepers’ Question Time, and an introduction to our new Bees for Schools project.
Tues 30th October  Wally Shaw, Anglesey, a talk on Varroa.
Message from the speaker….
The talk is about the ongoing evolutionary relationship between the honey bee, Varroa and deformed wing virus. Included in the talk is an account of how Varroa breeds in the hive, because a good understanding of this is crucial for getting the best out of any treatment.
In the final part of the talk I will discuss the non-treatment option.  I have to say it is not exactly a ‘feel-good’ topic.

Tues 27th November  Stuart Hatton, Cheshire, a talk on Garden plants for the bees
Message from the speaker….
My talk is about garden plants for bees which includes bumble and solitary bees. I talk a little bit about pollen and nectar and how the bees use it in the colony and also mention the pruning of some trees, shrubs and timing of pruning etc, composts for planters and fertilisers. There will be a photo gallery of trees, shrubs, annuals and perennials and also briefly talk about growing the plants for the BBKA stand at the RHS Tatton Flower Show which we have organised over the past few years and being awarded a Gold Medal
