Welcome to the Conwy Beekeepers' Association Website.
One of our primary aims is to bring together those involved in beekeeping in
this lovely area of North Wales, UK and to encourage people with an interest in
beekeeping to take up this fascinating activity. So our purpose is to disseminate
good practice and to help, advise, educate and train beekeepers, young and old.
We are an Association of nearly one hundred and twenty members. We meet regularly over the winter period for
evening talks and demonstrations at St. David's College, Llandudno and during
the spring and summer at our Association's apiary on the Bodnant
Estate at Tal y Cafn, where
experienced members and newcomers meet to work with our own bees in a secure
environment.
Conwy has a long association with beekeepers, and the Conwy
Honey Fair which takes place each year in Conwy High Street, on the 13th
September, is an opportunity for beekeepers to sell their honey and for the
public to meet beekeepers and to buy local honeys and hive products such as
beeswax candles, beeswax polish and honey soaps.
The Conwy Honey Fair has a 700 year old Charter and was founded by Edward I.
Local beekeepers sell about a tonne of honey by lunchtime. Stall space is free
of charge. In addition, there are crafts, plants and local produce stalls. There
are also many attractions in the walled town of Conwy which is a World Heritage
Site.

Croeso
i Wefan Cymdeithas Gwenynwyr Conwy.
Un
o’n prif amcanion yw casglu ynghyd bawb sydd yn ymwneud â gwenyna yn y
rhan hyfryd hon o Ogledd Cymru ac annog pawb sydd â diddordeb mewn gwenyna
i roi cynnig arni. Nod y gymdeithas, felly, yw rhannu arferion da a helpu,
cynghori, addysgu a hyfforddi gwenynwyr, boed ifanc neu hen. Mae oddeutu
wyth deg o aelodau yn y Gymdeithas, gan gynnwys unigolion, teuluoedd ac
aelodau ifanc. Rydym yn cyfarfod yn rheolaidd yn ystod y gaeaf ac yn cael
sgyrsiau ac arddangosiadau yng Ngholeg Dewi Sant, Llandudno. Yn ystod yr
haf rydym yn cyfarfod yng ngwenynfa ein Cymdeithas ar Stad Bodnant yn Nhal y Cafn, lle mae ein
haelodau profiadol a’n haelodau newydd yn cyfarfod i weithio gyda’n
gwenyn ein hunain mewn amgylchedd diogel.
Mae
perthynas Conwy â gwenynwyr yn mynd yn ôl ganrifoedd. Mae Ffair Fêl Conwy a
gynhelir bob blwyddyn ar Stryd Fawr Conwy, ar y 13eg o Fedi, yn gyfle i
wenynwyr werthu eu mêl ac i’r cyhoedd gyfarfod â’r gwenynwyr a
phrynu mêl lleol a chynnyrch y cychod gwenyn megis canhwyllau, cŵyr
dodrefn a sebon a wnaed o gŵyr gwenyn.
Mae
gan Ffair Fêl Conwy siarter ers 700 mlynedd ac fe’i sylfaenwyd gan
Edward I. Mae’r gwenynwyr lleol yn gwerthu oddeutu tunnell o fêl erbyn
amser cinio. Ni chodir tâl am stondin. Yn ogystal â’r stondinau mêl,
mae yno hefyd grefftau, planhigion a chynnyrch lleol. Mae nifer o
atyniadau o fewn tref gaerog Conwy, sydd yn Safle Treftadaeth y Byd.
