Solitary bee houses

These pictures were taken in a wildlife garden in the Conwy Valley, North Wales, during a visit by members of the North Wales Wildlife Trust.  All of the bee houses are south-facing, with direct sunlight.  Solitary bees are said to prefer several small bee houses, rather than one large bee hotel.  Easily made.  Hole sizes 8mm to 10mm  dia for Red Mason Bees, or 4mm to 10mm dia for various solitary bees.
